PRAYING AND PRAISING.
    i Nor earth, nor all the sky
       Can one delight afford ;
     No, not a drop of real joy
       Without thy presence, Lord.
   5 Thou art the sea of love,
       Where all my pleasures roll;
     The circle where my passions move,
       And centre of my soul.
   6 To thee my spirits fly,
       With infinite desire ;
     And yet how far from thee I lie !
       Dear Jesus, raise me higher.

             God’s care for his creatures.
   1 VE humble souls, approach your God
      ’ With songs of sacred praise;
     For he is good, immensely good,
       And kind are all his ways.
   2  All nature owns his guardian care;
       In him we live and move;
     But nobler benefits declare
       The wonders of his love.
   3 He gave his well-beloved Son
       To save our souls from sin ;
     ’Tis here he makes his goodness known,
       And proves it all divine.
   4 To this sure refuge, Lord, we come,
       ’Tis here our hope relies;
     A safe defence, a peaceful home,
       When storms of trouble rise.
    5 Thine eye beholds, with kind regard,
       The souls that trust in thee,
